Supervisor – Surveillance -Information Technology and Communications
About The Role
Reporting to the IT Superintendent, the Supervisor – Surveillance will lead and manage the surveillance team responsible for the installation, maintenance, monitoring, and performance of electronic security systems across the site. This includes ensuring reliability, security, and compliance of all surveillance infrastructure while providing technical guidance and leadership to the team.
The Ideal Candidate Must Have
- Minimum 10years of experience in a surveillance or electronic security systems role, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership position.
- Advanced hands-on experience with:
- Security/access control systems
- IP CCTV systems, NVRs, and remote monitoring
- Cisco networking – particularly CLI configuration and VLAN setup
- Strong understanding of electronic and electrical systems, including low-voltage systems (12V/24V/48V), solar power systems, and charge controllers.
- Experience with fault diagnosis and repair in field and control room settings.
- Certificate or Diploma in Information Technology, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Industry certifications (e.g., Gallagher, Cisco, or electrical technician licenses) are advantageous.
- Strong leadership and team coordination skills
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving abilities
- High-level technical documentation and reporting ability
- Effective communication and stakeholder management
- Safety-focused and reliable under pressure
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the surveillance team, ensuring timely response to maintenance, faults, and project tasks.
- Maintain and support advanced electronic security systems, including:
- Access control systems
- IP-based CCTV systems and NVR platforms
- Network infrastructure supporting surveillance, including Cisco CLI and VLAN configuration
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of camera infrastructure in both local and remote environments.
- Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on surveillance-related hardware and networking.
- Support and implement power solutions including 12V, 24V, and 48V systems, solar panels, batteries, and charge controllers.
- Work closely with the IT networking team to ensure surveillance network integrity and performance.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, licensing requirements, and Barrick’s Global Safety Standards (GSS).
- Plan and manage upgrades, expansions, and installations of surveillance and security systems and hardware.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, safety regulations, and licensing requirements.
- Provide regular reporting on team performance, system uptime, incidents, and project progress.
- Coach, mentor, and develop the technical capabilities of team members.
- Liaise with vendors and contractors as required for equipment support and service delivery.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality when dealing with surveillance footage, system access, and incident reporting
- Maintain a high level of health and safety awareness and comply with the NPL Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all health & Safety Policy
Mobilization Requirement
- This position is open to PNG Citizens Only
- Rotation is FIFO, 21 days on and 14 days off
- Must have an up-to-date Police Clearance certificate (Acquired within the last 6 months)
- A ability to successfully pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol test
